Comfortable, tasteful and above all functional – this is what a hall should look like. This is where we start to reveal the interior when welcoming guests or receiving a package from a courier. Guarantee yourself the best first impression and arrange this space with attention to every detail. We will give you some tips how to arrange a hall so that you can proudly open the door to your flat.
The hall is usually narrow and dark, which makes its arrangement difficult. But don’t be discouraged and treat it as a challenge – the hall is, after all, an introduction to the décor of the whole house, which in a few seconds outlines the character and taste of all the home-dwellers. It must therefore be tidy and aesthetically pleasing – thanks to this, its appearance will be appreciated by even the most picky guests.
Good furniture arrangement
At the very beginning, think what the possibilities of your hall are and where you can place the necessary furniture. A roomy wardrobe should be as close to the door as possible so you can use it comfortably. A perfect solution is a custom-made piece of furniture that won’t waste even a scrap of space and will provide additional space for seasonal clothes. If the size of the interior does not allow for the assembly of the wardrobe, choose hooks with shelf and hide all the clothes you are not using at the moment, e.g. in the bedroom.
However, don’t resign from the shoe cabinet – high heels, boots or sandals scattered on the floor create a mess, so they shouldn’t be in plain sight. You can buy a narrow and oblong piece of furniture which, when placed next to the wall, will not block the passage, moreover, when equipped additionally with a seat will make it easier to get ready to leave the house every day. You will also need a small cabinet for accessories such as keys, sunglasses or shoe care kit.
Surface for special tasks
It should be said that the floor is equally important element that affects the functionality of the hall. Due to the changing seasons and weather conditions outside the window, it is not uncommon for us to carry dirt from the outside into the house. Just think of last year’s winter season, with all this daily cleaning and wiping the floor. In order to protect you from this, we suggest choosing the waterproof floor, e.g. from the Prime collection. Panels resembling natural stone and wood will surely arouse the interest of all visitors, yet you will not have to worry about the durability of your flooring.
Lighting creates the design
The halls usually are not exposed to direct sunlight, so artificial lighting plays a very important role there. In small interiors, a single light source (e.g. in the form of a halogen lamp) will be sufficient. However, in an elongated hall, it is much better to choose ceiling spot lights to be installed in strategic places (e.g. above a mirror, a seat and at the door). In tall rooms, on the other hand, wall sconces are an ideal option for creating a cosy atmosphere.
Refined character
Enrich the decor of the hall with decorations that will help to optically broaden and illuminate the space. An interesting, three-dimensional wall mural will enliven the arrangement and add depth to it. On the other hand, a mirror hanging on the wall will allow you not only to check the condition of your clothes before you leave the house, but also visually enlarge the space.
When planning the decor, pay special attention to the place which appears to the guests as soon as the front door is opened. It will be a good idea to use this space to present the most beautiful holiday photos or a unique, grandmother’s old sideboard, where candles with a beautiful scent will be burning.
