The beginning of the year is an ideal time to consider what trends will take over interior design in the next 12 months. What will be still fashionable and what will be better to forget? What trends will gain popularity? We have created a list of TOP 5 interior design trends that will rule in 2020, especially for you.

Trend no. 1: Classic Blue as the colour of the year according to the Pantone Color Institute

After last year’s triumph of the Living Coral colour – energizing and stimulating – the time has come for something more subdued, though not boring. The Pantone Color Institute has announced that Classic Blue will reign in 2020. Elegant in its simplicity, it is supposed to bring peace, serenity and the sense of security. It will make your home a real asylum; a wonderful retreat, where we can relax after a challenging and stressful day.

Classic Blue will look beautifully in a duo with wood and gold. If the rooms in our house are large and spacious, let’s not hesitate to use this colour on the walls. We can paint them with paint or use decorative panels, such as wainscot. Elegant effect guaranteed! This shade of blue will also look great on upholstery of armchairs and sofas as well as curtains. Another option is to choose a door in this colour (e.g. Larix in Delft Blue decor) – such an element will be a real “relish” in the decor.

Trend no. 2: Designing in harmony with nature (biophilic design)

A trend already known from previous seasons. We are happy to see it growing in strength and penetrating into Polish homes, offices and commercial facilities. Biophilic design means designing interiors close to nature. It is more than just moving elements of nature from outside to inside.  It is strengthening the bond between man and nature, building a sense of worship for everything that is alive. Presence in such arranged spaces should inspire, increase productivity as well as have a positive impact on the soul and body.

The elements that play an important role in biophilic design include: natural light, real plants, textiles with floral motifs, materials and textures found in the natural environment. This trend is embodied, for example, in vertical gardens that decorate the walls. Such a decoration can be used in the living room, but also in the bathroom. In each case it will look phenomenal.

Trend no. 3: Simple materials and craftsmanship

In interior design there is a shift towards modest, economical materials. Architects are more willing to use rattan, wicker, jute, plywood and sisal. They are used to make coffee table bases, rocking chairs, home-made swings, lampshades, as well as carpets, blankets, napkins and tablecloths. What is important is that the choice of these simple raw materials does not mean that the end result will be average, bland or primitive. It is in their simplicity that beauty lies. There is no excess of form over content.

Great attention is also paid to craftsmanship. To things prepared with passion, craftsmanship and characterised by unique character. Therefore, it is worth visiting the studios of painters, ceramists as well as clay artists. You can find there real gems that can be used in the flat arrangement. We also encourage you to make various decorations on your own, give a second life to old or used objects, create recycled decorations.

Trend no. 4: Matt finish

High gloss is slowly becoming a thing of the past. Now matt is having a moment of glory. Surfaces finished in this way have something subtle, elegant, refined. And such becomes the house interior thanks to them.  The tops or fronts of furniture with a subdued glow allow you to concentrate on the texture and colour of the material used, such as wood or marble. To fully appreciate its nuances.

Matt finishes will look perfect in any room. On the market you will find many items designed in this aesthetics, including bathroom taps and accessories, free-standing bathtubs, vases, sinks or kitchen hoods. If you are looking for matt furniture for your kitchen, we recommend Costa and Black Matt sets. Extremely stylish, in subdued, fashionable colours and at the same time very functional – what more can you possibly need?

Trend no. 5: Marble

The popularity of marble is not decreasing. This material brings refinement and a pinch of glamour into interiors. It is timeless and noble. It is van be noticed in furniture, decorations, on walls and floors. We have written about what to combine it with and in which rooms it is worth using here .
